SELMI’S – FOR THE SEASONS OF YOUR LIFE

The Selmi Greenhouse is the most beautiful place for spring gardening. We have over 25 varieties of geraniums, vegetables of every kind and flowers to make your home the best it can be. Our greenhouse is open to the public April and May.

Famous for their corn, but OH, those tomatoes

During the summer season, we handpick all of our produce for the best quality and freshness.  Our super sweet bi-colored corn is what we’re world-famous for, but you’ll get the same quality in our green beans, tomatoes, peppers, melons and more.  You’ll find quality Michigan Peaches and Apples in August-October.

Find the summer locations to buy the best sweet corn around. https://www.selmi.com/seasons/farm-market

The Selmi Farm welcomes you every October to celebrate the harvest of the the season in a big way. Even the 5th generation is starting to join in the fun!  A family tradition for more than 60 years, we offer family fun for all – pumpkins, carving supplies, gourds, squash, cider, apples and more.  School tours highlight the weekdays and on weekends, join us for horse drawn wagon rides, corn maze, petting farm, haunted house and “Little Spook’s Playhouse”.

•Just a little place in Illinois •
Part 1

These are the things that amaze me.

First - my son was running SO fast, I had to slow down this video…

Second - how did I NOT know about this place in Illinois?!

It’s 2 hours from home.
And I had no clue about the beautiful working, Dutch windmill overlooking the Mississippi River.

OR that they’ve had their own small town Dutch festival for 50 years!

This area was settled by Dutch immigrants in 1823.
It’s quite remarkable how many generations have prioritized preserving their heritage.

The windmill, named De Immigrant,
was officially dedicated in the year 2000.

But before that, it was crafted in Holland from refurbished parts of old, unused windmills. Then disassembled & reassembled here by the townspeople.

A few locals even use the mill to make local products for sale in their cultural center!

Tours inside the windmill are FREE.

I especially love that it’s black & overlooking the water. Both are unique attributes I haven’t seen in Midwest windmills yet.
