These three limestone arches were built in 1855 to support Illinois Central Railroad trains as they passed through the city of Dixon. The Galena Limestone blocks were quarried in Dixon and were so precisely cut, shaped and balanced that they have resisted cracking and shifting. The three arches were placed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1987.
