SALT 251 is a new Restaurant and Bar located at 531 S. 7th Street at the Fairways Public Golf Course in Rochelle. The ultra-modern facility boasts over 30 flat screens, convenient electronics charging stations, a well-lit parking lot, fully-automated restrooms, and a growing list of menu and drink items, featuring locally-grown MightyVine tomatoes. Owners John & Chawn Scanlan have been in the restaurant business for over 31 years.
The name SALT 251 was selected from a list of potential names submitted through a community naming contest. History tells that some early Rochelle city fathers wanted to rename the city from its original Hickory Grove. At a local pharmacy, someone took a bottle of Rochelle Salts from the retail shelf and Rochelle became the new name. SALT 251 will feature nightly specials and live music on Thursday nights. SALT 251 also offers full-service banquet and catering options.
