In 2020 the Illinois Office of Tourism recognized the Village Bakery as one of 31 small businesses, or ‘makers,’ in the Illinois Made program. Launched in 2016, the  Illinois Made program currently features over 200 makers, and this designation spotlights the people, products, and experiences authentic to Illinois and inspires residents and visitors to explore these iconic destinations when traveling the state, or in their own backyard.

We Bake a Difference
This unique bakery offers a wide selection of fresh baked goods, coffee, frozen drinks, and ice cream. At the Village Bakery, adults with disabilities work shoulder to shoulder with a professional staff, learning skills needed for employment. The goal is to gain a resume and a reference, giving potential future employers the assurance they need to hire with confidence. People with disabilities can have an active and meaningful role in today’s world of work – they just need a better way.

“Our mission is to provide work opportunities for people with developmental disabilities. We aim to 'bake a difference' in their lives and in the community.”
