Details

The northernmost and oldest section of the current courthouse was built in Mount Carroll after the county seat was relocated there in 1843. The 1858 courthouse is listed on the National Register for Historic Places.  A Larado Taft monument commemorating Civil War soldiers and civil war cannons are located on the court house lawn.
