The Mad About Plaid event will take place Friday, Oct. 4, 2024, in downtown Rock Falls at the RB&W District Park, on 201 E. 2nd St. Plaidurday also falls on Oct. 4 this year, making it the perfect time to celebrate this global tradition of plaid. Lumberjacks from the Oct. 5 Lumberjack Show at Selmi’s Family Farm will join the festivities.

Be counted for the Guinness record

Organizers aim to eventually break the Guinness World Record for the most people wearing plaid in one location. The current goal is to surpass 1,359 people, though an unofficial record of 1,745 has been reported but not verified by Guinness. Participants are invited to gather at the RB&W District Park for a group photo at 7 p.m.

Attendees are encouraged to wear plaid while shopping and dining downtown. Many local businesses will offer specials to those dressed in plaid.
