Karpeles Manuscript Museum Program

On Thursday, January 17 @ 6:00pm, Chris and Margie Cain, co-directors of the Karpeles Manuscript Museum in Rock Island, will present a program on the history of the Karpeles family and motivation of the acclaimed collection of original manuscripts and documents. The program is free and open to the public and light refreshments will be served following the presentation.  The facility is accessible to persons with disabilities.

The Karpeles Museum has been in existence since 1963 and few people are aware of what treasures it holds.  The local Rock Island site is part of several locations nation-wide and each is located in unique historical buildings. Items are rotated between museums quarterly; therefore, frequently there are new, unseen pieces.  Various topics including music, science, art, literature, religion and historical documents are part of the general exhibit; but special exhibits are also highlighted.
