The Rock River Painter's Guild first Studio and Gallery Tour last year was such a resounding success, the artists voted to expand it to two days for 2019. “New and Improved” this year, there will be no tickets to buy, no admission fees, and Tour Maps will be free to download from our website, maps will be available in May 2019. The 2018 event featured 17 artists, 13 opening their private studios and four displaying and giving demonstrations at some of the six participating galleries. Just a few of the artists already signed up for the 2019 tour include:
*Dan Letourneau of Dixon who will open his farmhouse studio where he paints landscapes and floral paintings in oil. His ever-changing gardens give constant inspiration.
*Jan Harvey’s home studio in Dixon will be open to view her “country-flavored” watercolors and oil paintings. Jan paints en plein air weekly and has many beautiful landscapes. She also creates charming still life paintings of antiques, quilts, and fruit and is a prolific source for her collectors.
*Cathy Marie Staker will greet you at The Corner Gallery in Sterling and show her colorful acrylic paintings.
*Valerie Butcher will also be at The Corner Gallery, Val is a glass artist and creates many beautiful and varied collectibles, be sure to stop by to see a demonstration and participate in a workshop. You will also be able to sign up for her glass art classes.
*Dana Russell-Brown is a ceramicist and will open her home studio in Oregon.
*Sally Jane Cooper will give pottery making demonstrations in her huge studio near Grand Detour that is full of her brightly colored works.
*Barb Lundeen will show her tiles and abstract alcohol ink paintings and collages. If you have not yet been introduced to alcohol ink, you will be pleasantly surprised at the vibrant colors, resembling stained glass.
*Joanne Farrey Mailhoit will open her home to demonstrate alcohol ink painting on tiles and one of a kind jewelry. Joanne often holds jewelry making workshops where you can design your own.
