Don't miss this year's Founders Day event featuring guest speaker Tom Wadsworth as he takes us on a journey through the history of the Dixon Bridge Disaster.
This is a non-ticketed event and is open to everyone! Join us on April 11th at the Loveland Community Building.
It happened in 1873
Tom Wadsworth will tell the story of the Dixon, IL bridge collapsing -250 people plummeted into the Rock River, 44 of whom never made it back to the surface.
It was on May 4, 1873, when the Truesdell Bridge, the first iron bridge to stretch across the river, collapsed just a few years following its completion.
Everyone is invited to attend and light refreshments will be served! The program is free, donations are accepted.
