Cheryl Niemo and the Down Home Boys is a trio with Cheryl singing vocals, and Marty Brunkalla and Pete Jonsson singing harmonies. Their music is a blend of bluegrass, traditional folk, pop, blues, and old standards (popular music from the early 1900’s). Cheryl also loves the music of modern singer songwriters like Emmy Lou Harrison and Gillian Welch and includes many of their songs in her performances. Cheryl’s voice is beautiful and she knows how to sing a song and make it special. Marty Brunkalla plays mandolin with a delicate touch and he has an ear for beautiful counter melodies. For variety, he picks up his beautifully crafted fiddle. (See brunkalla.com for a website of these special instruments.) Holding it all together is Pete Jonsson playing rhythm guitar in a variety of styles.
