A Visit with Dolley Madison

Sunday, Sept 8th the Sterling Rock Falls Historical Society will present, " A Visit with Dolley Madison" at 2 pm at the Lincoln Learning Center in Sterling. Barbara Kay, a retired high school history teacher, will bring Dolley Madison alive with her first-person presentation.

Dolley Madison did more than just save a portrait of George Washington. Her actions during the War of 1812 helped shape the roll for future first ladies. Barbara will tell the story of her life with an emphasis on the War of 1812. The future state of Illinois had its fair share of fights and battles and people will see that this war gave rise to new towns and many early Illinois leaders got their start in public service during the war.

Everyone is invited to attend and light refreshments will be served!

The program is free, donations are accepted.
