"Civil War Fathers" book presentation
Sunday, May 19th author Tim Pletkovich will give a lecture on his book, "Civil War Fathers" at the Lincoln Learning Center in Sterling. This free program starts at 2 pm and is open to the public.
Civil War Fathers is the story of eight American families whose fathers fought in the Civil War and whose sons and daughters fought in World War II. It evolved from an interview project involving middle school children in Peoria, IL, into an amazing book encompassing almost 100 years of American history in two generations. The primary focus of the book is the broad span of social, cultural and economic change that swept the country over nine decades.
Tim Pletkovich attended Eastern Illinois University, Fordham and Illinois State University and has enjoyed a variety of careers since graduating in 1982. After college, his first job was as a scout for the Chicago Cubs. He also was a radio analyst covering the Boston Red Sox. He presently teaches middle school in Peoria, IL.
Everyone is invited to attend and light refreshments will be served!
The program is free, donations are accepted.
