Dixon Founders Day Program
Two local organizations host event
Founders Day marks the anniversary of the founding of Dixon -- and to preserve Dixon’s rich history -- the organizations come together to produce a night of historical indulgence.
On Thursday, April 11, the Dixon Chamber of Commerce & Main Street and Lee County Historical and Genealogical Society join together to host the annual Dixon Founders Day celebration at the Northwest Territory Historic Center. Doors will open at 6:00 PM with the presentation beginning at 6:30 PM.
Marking the anniversary of a 100-year icon: the Dixon Arch
2019 is a special year for Dixon as it marks the 100th birthday of one of Dixon’s most unique and iconic features, the War Memorial Arch, also referred to as the Dixon Arch. The program is presented by local historian, Duane Paulsen, who will transport you back in time to the original 1919 construction of the arch commemorating the Dixonites who perished in WWI.
This free event is open to the public. Desserts will be available.
