If these walls could talk–oh, the stories they would tell

Since 1976 the Brandywine Banquet and Event Center is a staple for large and small events in northwest Illinois. Located on Route 2 between Dixon and Sterling sits one of the area’s top event venues. Known for its elegant atmosphere, friendly staff, delicious menu options, and ample space–it’s the perfect space for any type of celebration or milestone. 

Built to resemble the wayside inns of Old England, the massive 100-year-old timbers, bricks, steel, glass, and other rustic building materials salvaged from old buildings and hotels emphasize its charming design.

If the walls within the Brandywine could talk, they would tell the history of how it was built and the real stories about the celebrations and gatherings. Those walls would also tell stories about family reunions, weddings, life milestones, corporate meetings, birthdays, and the many events where friends, family, and business associates share a good time or new beginnings.

A new story began in 2018

The 42-year-old building on the hill was bought in 2018 by Matt Prescott, the owner of Candlelight Inn restaurants, and business partner Tim Kendrick. “It’s one of the most iconic properties in our area,” Prescott said in an interview with Shaw Media, “You can’t build a property like that anymore.”

Venue offerings

They currently offer a Grand Ballroom, Main Ballroom, and Brick Room for all types of gatherings. The venue boasts:

• Three large wooden dance floors
•  building-wide PA system with wireless microphones
• Free Wi-Fi
• Projectors and screens
• Two full-service bars
• Floor-to-ceiling room dividers
• Dimmable lighting

Aside from all the historic space, Brandywine also has three event coordinators on staff to help make any celebration perfect. The coordinator helps plan every step of an event, leaving patrons the time and energy to enjoy the moment instead of worrying about the details. 

“At Brandywine Banquet & Event Center, we take a proactive approach to helping you plan each detail. Start by choosing one of our three main banquet areas. Then we’ll work together on your menu, setup, and each part of your event. Our event coordinators will even be in contact with your vendors for setup requirements,” said Prescott. “Meanwhile, you can sit back and rest assured that everything will come together perfectly.”
